A Journey to the Heartland

"I am a Philly girl through and through, but for the last twenty years, the Midwest has been my home. I fell in love with the pace of life here, the kindness of the people, and the way a simple 'hello' over a fence can brighten an entire afternoon.

However, for a long time, my connection to my neighbors happened through a corporate headset. Working in high-volume sales and customer service for big corporations, I saw a side of our community that broke my heart.

I would answer a call from a senior who might have started by asking about an order, but I could tell within seconds that what they truly stayed for was the conversation. In that corporate world, those stories were viewed as 'inefficiencies' to be managed or sales opportunities to be exploited. It was painful to see a lifetime of wisdom and history rushed through to reach the next customer in the queue.

I knew the Heartland deserved better.

I decided to hang up the headset and build a service where the clock honors the connection, not the other way around. Phone A Friend in the Heartland was born from my desire to offer my neighbors my undivided attention.

To ensure we can be 100% present for every story, we’ve replaced corporate quotas with dedicated, scheduled visits. Whether it’s a focused 15-minute Simply Sweet sunshine call or a deep 45-minute Neighborly session, those minutes belong entirely to you. By setting these professional boundaries, I can promise that you will never feel like a number in a system.
